Euthanasia

Providing support, guidance, and compassionate care during a difficult time.

Euthanasia is the hardest thing about having a pet. However, it is the best thing we can do for them if they experience more bad days than good. We allow them the dignity of not suffering from a terminal disease or extreme pain.

What is pet euthanasia and how do I know when it’s the right time?

Making the decision to say goodbye to your beloved friend is very difficult. If you have questions or want to discuss your pet’s quality of life, our veterinarians will be there to counsel you.

Can I say goodbye to my pet in the comfort of our home?

We do not provide in-home euthanasia. Our team can supply the name and number of a house call veterinarian if you prefer.

How is the euthanasia drug administered?

A veterinarian or registered animal technologist will place an intravenous catheter into a vein for the injection. The drug used is a large dose of a barbiturate anesthetic. The injection is painless and allows your pet to pass away almost instantly.

What is the cost of pet euthanasia?

Please call the hospital to discuss the euthanasia and cremation options.

Does your hospital provide bereavement counselling?

We do not offer bereavement counselling at our clinic. Our team can provide information for a group that can help you during this difficult time.
