Puppy Vaccinations

Vaccinations are important to overall canine health. They are designed to prepare the patient’s immune system to fight future infections from disease-causing agents. Ideally, puppies should be vaccinated at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age so they can build an appropriate immune system.

What vaccinations do you provide to new puppies?

We offer Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus and Rabies as our core vaccines. Bordetella and Lyme vaccines are also available.

Why is it important to vaccinate your puppy?

Young puppies are at a much higher risk of catching serious illnesses; therefore, it is important to vaccinate them as early as possible to protect them.

At what age should I bring my puppy for their vaccinations?

Puppies should have their first series of vaccinations done at 6-8 weeks of age. The vaccines given during their first series need to be boosted every 4 weeks thereafter until they are fully vaccinated at 14-16 weeks of age.

How should I prepare my puppy for their first vaccination visit?

Try and schedule their first visit at a time of day that the hospital is not too busy. This will limit interactions with other pets and help your puppy stay healthy. Puppies are susceptible to diseases from other pets when they are not fully vaccinated. Bring their favourite treat with you as well to make their visit a positive one!
